Minecraft But Trapdoors Drop OP Items
Datapack README • Vanilla • Survival • No Mods
This datapack changes trapdoors into your main progression resource: when you break the supported trapdoors in Survival, the trapdoor itself will not drop. Instead, you receive 1–5 random overpowered items from a custom loot pool.
Compatibility
- Java Edition (vanilla datapack, no mods required).
- Designed for Minecraft 1.21.11 datapack format.
- Works in singleplayer and multiplayer.
If it does not work: You are probably on a different Minecraft version or a server setup that uses another loot-table format. Use Minecraft 1.21.11 for best results.
Affected Blocks
ONLY these trapdoors are affected:
- oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark_oak
- pale_oak, mangrove, cherry, bamboo
- iron_trapdoor
Everything else is unchanged. If you break any other trapdoor type and it drops normally, that is expected.
What You Get (Loot)
Each supported trapdoor drops 1–5 random items from an overpowered loot pool. Expect late-game items such as high-tier gear, rare survival items, and end-game progression rewards.
Important: Supported trapdoors will not drop themselves anymore. If you want trapdoors for building, craft or place different trapdoor types that are not in the affected list.
Installation (World Datapack)
- Close your world (recommended, avoids reload issues).
- Open your world’s datapack folder:
.../.minecraft/saves/<YOUR_WORLD>/datapacks/ - Put the datapack ZIP file into that folder.
- Start the world and run:
You should see the datapack listed as enabled./reload /datapack list
Windows quick path:
- Press
Windows + R - Type:
%appdata%\.minecraftand press Enter - Go to:
saves → <YOUR_WORLD> → datapacks - If the
datapacksfolder does not exist, create it with the exact name:datapacks - Drop the ZIP into that folder
Maintenance / Updating
- Update: Delete the old ZIP, then copy the new ZIP into the same folder. Run
/reload. - Uninstall: Remove the ZIP from the
datapacksfolder. Run/reload. - Server: Put the ZIP into the world folder used by the server instance (same structure) and restart or
/reload.
Tip: Keep only one version of the datapack ZIP in the folder. Multiple copies can cause unpredictable behavior.
Customization (Know-How)
Loot pool file:
data/trapdoor_op/loot_table/trapdoor_op_items.json
Trapdoor override files: one file per trapdoor block:
data/minecraft/loot_table/blocks/<trapdoor_name>.json
To add another trapdoor type, create a new override JSON file in the folder above and point it to:
trapdoor_op:trapdoor_op_items
After editing JSON files, always run /reload in-game to apply changes.
Troubleshooting
- Nothing drops: Run
/datapack listand confirm the pack is enabled. - Trapdoors still drop themselves: Another datapack is overriding the same loot-table files.
- Works in singleplayer but not on a server: The server may be using a different version or datapack format. Use 1.21.11.
- You updated but nothing changed: You likely still have an older ZIP in the folder. Delete it and try again.
Quick Test (Recommended)
- Place an oak trapdoor.
- Switch to Survival mode.
- Break the trapdoor.
- Expected: trapdoor does not drop, you receive 1–5 OP items.
Operational Notes (Content / Challenge)
- This datapack is designed to accelerate progression. You may become overpowered quickly.
- If you want a stricter run, define simple rules (example: “only loot from naturally generated trapdoors”).
- For viewers: show the affected trapdoor list on screen to avoid confusion with excluded trapdoors.
Drop Items (Current Loot Pool)
Every supported trapdoor drops exactly 5 items. Items are selected randomly from the pool below (weighted chances apply).
